For those of you who don't mind if the things in your tank look store baught, or who are trying to save a buck or two, this may assist you, at least as far as a diffuser go's. It will of course not be as good as a super expensive perchased diffuser, but on smaller tanks, it will get the job done.

items you will need

A dispersal media, it is there to brake up the CO2 into as many small bubbles as possible, which inreases surface area, and absorbtion, also, it increases the time the bubble is in the water as the resistance to pass slows it down, again assisting in absorbtion. ust on a side note, the media I have in the pics is by far not the best, but it was cheap, and was already lying around, if you can get a fine sponge mesh type (similar to whats in some power filters) it will do a better job.

Tubing

A sucker to attach it to the tank later, I use a spare sucker from an old heater, as it fits perfectly for the next item on the list.

An empty bottle, or container of your choosing, Im using a sweeto bottle here.

Cut out a hole in the bottom of the bottle.

Prepare your media (give it a rinse etc)

Make a hole in the centre of the bottle lid (I use a nail, that I heat up with a flame)

Thread you tubing through the hole, at this point I suppose you could also add a small airstone to it at this stoge, no idea if it would work though as I have not yet tried it.

Insert your media, attempt to pack it in as tightly as possible

Close the cap (lid)

Attach the sucker, heater sucker fits snugly on to the neck of the bottle

Install in tank, using sucker to attach it to desired position in tank, unsuring that the lid (airline exit) is at the bottom

Dont forget to add a one way valve, so if you run out of pressure there wont be a back flow of water up the tubing, and out of the tank, usually ending up on the floor

And a drip loop is always a good idea, just in case.
